Requested move 1 September 2023[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved to God Mars. Consensus that the shorter title "God Mars" is the WP:COMMONNAME; the main question under discussion was whether the title should be disambiguated or not. The clearest consensus to come from that debate was that God Mars and god mars should point to the same article; there was relatively little discussion about whether those titles' destinations should be this anime or Mars (mythology). I'm reading that lack of discussion as an implicit acceptance of the early proposal to move the anime's article to God Mars alone; if god mars is retargeted to point toward the anime's article as well, I believe that would resolve all the potential concerns raised about the move. Six God Combination Godmars → God Mars (anime) – The shorter title has been used in recent years, especially by ComingSoon.net, Anime News Network, and Forbes (excluding primary sources that distribute this anime, like Crunchyroll and Discotek, which released the series on Blu-ray as such). WP:SMALLDETAILS allows differentiating two topics based on just one capital letter (as is done at iron maiden vs. Iron Maiden or Soul Eater vs. Soul eater (which was recently established from a requested move). Not to mention God Mars has redirected here for over a decade without any issue and hatnotes are sufficient to deal with any confusion. Link20XX (talk) 02:26, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure you can say WP:SMALLDETAILS in response to that comment when god mars and God Mars are technically NOT differentiated by a capital letter. The god mars redirect should be capitalizing Mars because it is a proper noun. Not saying that's reason to oppose, but it is definitely confusing to have the two redirects mismatched, and they should agree one way or the other (i.e. god mars should be retargeted if this alternate proposal is used). -2pou (talk) 23:13, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the lowercase link should be retargeted here if consensus is found for the alternative title. Note that when created and for several years after creation, God mars actually did redirect to this article. Dekimasuよ! 03:17, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
