Vandalism and Irrelevancy

Continous additions about Jeremy Hammond, who founded HackThisSite are, in my opinion vandalism, as Jeremy Hammond is irrelevent to the article other than the fact he founded the site, therefore talk about his non-HTS activities should be dismissed. If you disagree please respond. I also removed a section entitled "Pro" which in my opinion is entirely unprofessional and irrelevent. If anyone has any problems with that, then please post your opinions here. Any additions concerning subjects addressed above that are not discussed here, I will regard as vandalism. --EJFox 00:52, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

If you have a problem, state it or add your opinion. I removed yours for being an obvious defacement and replaced it with standard information from the site. I'm not willing to write an article, I am biased, so I will leave it for another user to do. But don't just remove my edit and replace it with crap, either contribute or don't bother. -- IceShaman 00:52, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

In addition I must add that despite vanadalism and irrelevance, most of the this page is written by the staff of HTS itself. I believe in no way that I have an impartial view of HTS but I must say that pretty much anyone involved in HTS has an impartial view do to the nature of the site and its history. For instance in the controversy section it is suggested that HackThisSite has never been found to be involved in illegal activities. That alone is disputable because Jeremy was arrested by the FBI under the belief that he used HTS members to coordinate an attack. He made us of the zines on HTS to do this. So while it may not be possible to say beyond a reasonable doubt that HTS is involved in illegal activity, it is indeed possible that it has been at some point. It seems to be that now things have definitely changed but the point of wikipedia is to provide an impartial perspective on the history of a topic, not just the current situation. So as you can see, the fact remains that it is partial to believe that HTS has never been involved in illegal activities. After all it would seem the FBI would want to contest that.

Overall the article is somewhat far and impartial but for the time being I still want it flagged as disputable neutrality based on the section in question. While I would be one to believe that deletion is somewhat extreme, I still think there is work to be done on this page. Anyone else care to share their thoughts on this subject? I think this article is in dire need of a clean-up. It's overly general and disorganized and seems to ramble in places. I think a major edit is past over-due. Comments? -- Kerowren 02:14, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Focus on Rewrite

All right, I have some ideas on how to begin. Let's see:

• Introduction

the introduction could be curtailed a bit as some of what it states can be placed in the body...or not at all.

• Types of Challenge

I'm seeing an expansion of the Types of Challenges section. HTS challenges have more depth and this is so vague, it's insulting, lol. Rename to simply Challenges then add sub-sections detailing each type.

• IRC and Forum

The IRC and Forums section could be moved lower into the body unless someone thinks that they are the main focus of HTS.

• Conflicts/Legal Issues section

Creation of a Conflicts or Legal Issues section could encompass the Criticism section. I believe the ProtestWarrior occurrences should be duly noted as to avoid NPOV disputes, else, the section could go before the Criticism section, in which case some reference to Jeremy Hammond must be made...

• ...and Articles...

and I'm surprised that IRC and Forums was chosen as a complete section as pre-2004, 2005, HTS was well known for having quite a compilation of hacking Articles...much of which has been lost in hacks...so, yeah, a reference to internal and external dissents/hacks.

• Internal Disputes (?)

Rootthisbox left unmentioned?

I don't see any references to the Rootthisbox challenges. Someone should really work on this article. -- scenestar

It's pretty cool how you took the time to add a complaint about lack of information on the talk page, but did not add anything yourself. It's a wiki, if you want something done then do it. Especially complaining about a project which you 'maintain'.--EJFox 03:49, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
