Hilton-Seligman business feud?[edit]

In Hilton's defense, there is some evidence to argue that during Jay Gould's attempt to corner the gold market, Seligman was involved in blocking AT Stewart's nomination as Secretary of Treasury, which certainly would not have endeared Seligman to Hilton. DEddy (talk) 19:49, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There might have been such a feud, but Hilton's responses to the affair as appeared in a statement by him in the NYT leave very little reason to doubt the Seligman's accusation were well founded. Presenting in the entry two seemingly competing explanations of the affair is misleading.(Roypeled (talk) 05:25, 31 January 2020 (UTC)) I wanted to change the text to remove "reportedly" from the allegation that seligman's faith was the reason for denial of service, while leaving the argument made by others that it was a personal feud. However not being profficient enough in this, I wasn't sure how to upload the NYT piece which I have on file, but not sure about copyright. Will edit once I can upload the article.
