Videos are not singles[edit]

If the "singles" added to the infobox are not actually singles, then they should be removed. A section for the promotion could be added to address either instance, but music video releases do not equate to releases of singles. They should be discussed and sourced in the article and the infobox should just be a summary of that information. Walter Görlitz (talk) 00:57, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The release of a song prior to the album's launch is technically a "single" release, no? Promo singles do exist. Not to mention, the album was delayed yet hardly anyone mentioned it in articles. ZMasonn (talk) 01:21, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No. A single is when a song is released to radio. This has been discussed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums and other locations. Lyric videos, dramatic videos, promotional singles, etc. do not count toward being considered a single. In the age of digital releases, a song can be released to a sales channel prior to being released as part of an album, and so it causes additional problems. There's an artist who 1) recorded an album, 2) went to crowdfunding to pay for it and made the album available as a download to all of the "patrons", and now 3) is releasing each song at appropriate intervals prior to the release date in October. The hope is that releasing the songs will garner more publicity and interest in the album. None of those releases would be considered singles, but based on your definition, "release of a song prior to the album's launch", would be considered a single. Alright, I'll concede there. But I will point out that the first two singles listed were not added by me, and didn't seem to require a citation until now. ZMasonn (talk) 01:38, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't tag them before because I nominated the whole article for deletion ; ) Walter Görlitz (talk) 02:54, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Does this album just not exist or something? Or is there just so little information out there that there's no point in there even being a wiki for it? ZMasonn (talk) 05:15, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The AfD expresses it well. This genre is not mainstream and so it's hard to find people who are willing to review it or write about it. Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:22, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Genre?[edit]

Stylistically, this album is not far off from the previous effort, so I'm not sure why nobody's made articles referencing the genre? ZMasonn (talk) 01:45, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WP:V requires verification and WP:GWAR explains why. Just because other articles don't reference something, doesn't mean this one shouldn't. It's easy enough to challenge the genres in any article where they're not clearly sourced. Walter Görlitz (talk) 02:55, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
