Should Four Tops Version be included?[edit]

Is it notable? Billboard does not show any information on it and so doesn't Allmusic? Is it referable? Novice7 (talk) 12:32, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of section on Four Tops version[edit]

I put this up for discussion because, no source indicate that this song was released as a single or it charted. Only notable version is that of Whitney Houston, I guess. So I propose the information be merged into Whitney Houston version's Background. Please leave your comments. Novice7 Talk 12:24, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Although it was not released or charted, the Four Tops did have a version of the song, and information about it would need to be included. The Houston version could be the prevalent on in the article, but this would definitely need to be listed in the background. Candyo32 13:17, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It did chart: not on Hot 100 but according to billboard.biz archives it hit the R&B chart, peaking at #40 in 1983. Catalog label and number: Casablanca 2353. - eo (talk) 13:24, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But, how to confirm the position. Billboard.biz is available to subscribed readers only. How can other users view it? Novice7 Talk 14:37, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Paid sites are acceptable for verification. WP:V doesn't demand that everyone be able to verify the information for free, only that anyone that wants to can verify it.—Kww(talk) 14:56, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Right. But, my question is should we include a separate section for The Four Tops version? It might have charted, but we do not have enough information on it. So, what I said is we merge their version into Houston's version's Background section. Novice7 Talk 15:52, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with this. Maybe we could just note in the page that the song is a cover of a song by them instead, as it is not notable at all. ΣПDiПGSTΛЯT 16:28, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The page clearly needs restructuring. People have an unfortunate tendency to just glue separate articles about each cover version together instead of actually writing an article about the song.—Kww(talk) 16:33, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and reworked the article, and found free sources for the Four Tops charting.—Kww(talk) 17:00, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
