I've tried straightening this out, but perhaps it is better merged into Artistic roller skating? -- ArglebargleIV 00:27, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know. It seems quite a different "sport" ... and on the Dutch wikipedia, User:Hsf-toshiba objected to the addition of inline skating in the "Artistic roller skating" (nl:Kunstrijden) article, as it are different sports, and inline skating isn't governed by the same national federation, etc etc (the advertising and spamming style of the inline skating authors didn't help either). I think you did a great job straightening out this article, and it's fine as a good seperate wikipedia article now :-) --LimoWreck 00:37, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In the US, at least, inline figure skating is indeed governed by the same national federation as the quad artistic skaters. For that matter, FIRS governs it as well. There are other organizations that have been formed, but that's the one recognized by the IOC. The EIFSA organization linked from this page doesn't have any official status. I personally think this qualifies to be its own page (and could be expanded), but the federation reason isn't the basis for this. ManekiNeko | Talk 02:56, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

some skates manufacturer links added[edit]

It took me quite a while to figure out where to look for inline figure skates. So I feel it may be helpful to include them here to make other people's life easier in finding these skates. I am not associated with any of them and do not intend this for commercial purpose. It is not among the more popular kinds of sports. The availability of information is relatively low from my perspective. Also, I found online that PICSKATE is closer to ice figure and Snow White is closer to quad figure. XG (talk) 04:03, 26 April 2008 (UTC) There is now a new company in the UK that sell skates that are closer to ice skates use a search engine and look for Off-Ice Skates. Information on brands is hard to find unless you use forums, but even then it can be hard. Linny40 (talk) 16:35, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
