Erdős number[edit]

An IP editor who claims to be Joe Becker in this edit has repeatedly added in the statement that Joe Becker has an Erdős number of 2. This site indicates that "J. D. Becker" is a co-author with Edward T. Ordman who is a co-author with Paul Erdős, but MathSciNetand this list of Erdős numbered authors think that "J. D. Becker" refers to "Jörg D. Becker", so the identity of "J. D. Becker" is not certain. Regardless of whether "J. D. Becker" is Joe Becker or not, I do not believe that an Erdős number is a notable or encyclopedic fact worthy of including in a biographic article. All the Erdős number tells our readers is that Becker co-authored a paper with someone who co-authored a paper with Paul Erdős, which is just a piece of dinner party trivia. Therefore, even if there is a reliable source that can verify that Joe Becker has an Erdős number of 2, I would not support including the information in the article. As it stands, there is no certain evidence that Joe Becker (as opposed to Jörg D. Becker) has an Erdős number of 2, so I have removed the statement again.
