"walsh the photographer"?[edit]

Mantell's character in Chinatown was not "Walsh the photographer." Walsh was one of three detectives in Jake Gittes's detective agency, along with Gittes himself (Jack Nicholson) and Duffy (Bruce Glover). He took covert photographs of subjects in the firms' investigative cases as part of his job. (Gittes himself is shown taking covert photos from a rooftop and again, pretending to be taking photos of Duffy as the two glide in a rowboat, when in fact he is snapping subjects in an adjacent boat). Walsh in the film, like Gittes and Duffy, is an ex-LAPD cop gone over to the private eye business. He is not "Walsh the photographer" anymore than I am "maccb the Xerox boy" when I make copies of a presentation for interns (I'm a supervising psychologist in a health/behavioral medicine setting). It's just part of the job. What a stupid thing to write. Sincerely, maccbMaccb (talk) 04:49, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
