• first off, kudos to whoever made this page, thanks a bunch, will try contact as i do lots of sibling John admirers (i even declared him my adopted father) but that was a little exxagerated.

pretty decent page but very little biographical detail, let alone and never mind it would mention how John met and enthuse oned of the first post-usenet pre-blogger website mentions/treatment of his insights by a very much dutchman -- who decided to adopt poetpiet as a penname, specially since he laboured most of the pre-weblaunch eighties over turning scraps of paper that survived his wanderyears into verse.

If there is one thing the world as a whole could do worse than learn from JDH --- both alarmists and deniers no less than the as well as, indeed, alas, loads more than that wholly preferable splinterquantity and fraction never to waste time becoming some sort of faction, taking away time from their LOCAL PRACTICAL IMPLEMENTATION OF UNIVERSAL SOLUTION: MICRO CLIMATE CHANGE!!!! --- it is 2twofoldness. The differential effects of climate change.

Extremes more extremes, longer wider, etcetera. the moderate median middle narrowing shortening etcetera.

Obvious implications: averaging hides changes. Proof for both and either of mentioned partialities i already mentioned, namely alarmism and denial, are readily found.

The most urgent application of this empirical fact is awaited, ironically enough, by politics. the bookish classes may have no scruples about climate, ecology, ethnology, ethics etcetera -- in fact nothing but money since way when Joseph disowned the homesteaders, prolly, besides initiating stockpilage of surplus value, flirting spoilage and epidemics in the process, in order to deliver labour for the fad: build another hippy pyramid imitations ... specialization in unfeeling, abstract, numerate, in other words, particular neotenous outcomes (tweak and manipulate diet, living space, birth-rates and birthing-ages, presto). The O(ld)T was already on about dyes and preference for black on white vs white on black having .... wait for it ... .propriety consequences -- but they sure as hell have worked both sides of political ales since day wen.

I aim at fame for an extension of the syntheses and fusions of and between disciplines that Hamaker already proved himself capable of, reaching incisive and lonesome ways ahead of the pack levels. A visionary whistleblowing integrator with a rock but not an axe to grind can be borrowed from profitably by those who have wars to end.

JDH (and his parly homesteadily made rock dust) was spread across the following fields:

nutrition science climatology tectonics (quarternary research) with some side orders, indicating the directions and needs for further study:: credit and population.

John claimed biomass levels needed to rise but emphasized that they needed to diversify much less. I, however, do not believe one can relegate it the status of luxury and deserves equal emphasis (pride of place?). In fact loads more disciplines are commensurate, including the humanities that fit in between the cardinal sciences like joints between bones, equally essential for moving as a whole, if it is to move meaningfully at all.

• Not only are the mentioned fields (of study) adjacent and capable of cappilary communication (in old fashioned dutch this semioconstruct is not only tautological (synonymous) but identical. Figures right? How would dutch people not find communication a wetware by definition (uitstek = par excellence = eminent, is a domain and thus also soil related terminology, earth holding willows, alders, .... but the humanities are interstitial as the range from nativities throughs habitation, past occupation spans life's good and bad form all the way from local birth privilege to human rights .. which seem to be universalizing at prohibitive cost (the earth and all even).

All sorts of USnIz entitlements are put in question, even as their debt duty and way out and forward get dictated from on (frigid) high yet phrased, proposed, buzzed about and formulated ever sharper from below. John practiced homesteady stewardship which the hippies were thwarted from developing (whole earth catalog without all the 'trickster' as O'Brien calls it) and sabotaged for rediscovering (the teccy stages of homesteading as the only native endorsed type of american dreaming whities were as a rule welcome to come do) severely.

He never spoke of micro-climate in the same explicitly political sense he aimed for in and served up at least side-dish wise with his big climate-cycle descriptions. Not even next to it or as a building block for its macro scale up ... Wondering why i conclude that he underestimated the mass appeal of his own lifestyle choices as much as he overestimated receptivity of the crowd managers he adressed and told to stop military airplanes for any purpose other than dusting places. A measure that had my immediate sympathy although i was to fly to the states another few times.

So though he didn't even so much as imply self-sufficiency, let alone recommend it, he lived it in all its intimate implications, which did not exclude inviting people like me to visit him from 20.000 miles away after i wrote him i translated an Acres, USA article of his to Dutch. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.45.63.104 (talk) 15:19, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Clouds

• Missing from Hamaker's hypothesis are noctilcent clouds, first noticed in 1885 near the North Pole and since growing and spreading to be seen in both hemispheres and to descend to mid latitudes. They reached a record extent in 2009. They are the highest clouds comprised of ice crystals that become coated with micrometeorite dust to become first surface mirrors. They have been measured as blocking 1 % of incoming sunlight, about ten times the variation in solar output observed during humanity's existence. These appear to be highly supportive of the Hamaker hypothesis. Methane is thought to be the major source of the hydrogen that combines with oxygen to provide the water for the ice at those altitudes. John Hamaker thought the ice age would be upon us by 2000. Recent coral deposit analysis found that ice ages commence just after melting of the polar ice caps, at least for the last two ice ages. Further research has found the ozone hole has affected Antarctica with the result of slowing its melting, in fact, leading to a net accumulation of ice for 80% of Antarctica. Though slowed, appears the Hamaker theory is manifesting.
