Hello! I will be reviewing this article for possible GA status. My review should be posted shortly. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 00:46, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Though improvements are possible, all in all this article meets the GA criteria, so it's been passed. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:11, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Writing and formatting[edit]

  • "when his body was taken to an outpost where reporter Marguerite Higgins identified him as the first soldier killed in the war" - grammar
  • Avoid "month of year" phrasings

Accuracy and verifiability[edit]

  • Spotchecks of a few sources found no issues with verifiability or close paraphrasing
  • Not sure why, but most of your harvlinks don't appear to be working
    • Just checked all of them and all are working. —Ed!(talk) 14:40, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Use a consistent format for retrieval dates
  • Check italicization in citations
    • Fixed so all instances of it are because of citation template formats. —Ed!(talk) 14:40, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Be consistent in whether you use {{cite}} or {{citation}}

Broad[edit]

  • Do we know his mother's maiden name?
    • Nothing in the sources indicates it. I suppose I could try to look through birth records but that may be original research. —Ed!(talk) 14:42, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Maybe a bit too much background on the Korean War, not enough on Shadrick's involvement. Do we know when he was sent to Korea, for example?
    • He was a part of the 34th Infantry and in the early phase of the war just moved with that regiment, so there isn't a lot to say on his involvement because it's basically saying the same thing. —Ed!(talk) 14:40, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality[edit]

  • In the American high-school system, what grade is represented by "A"?

Stability[edit]

No issues

Images[edit]

  • File:Kenneth_Shadrick.jpg: source doesn't indicate the original source of this image - how do we know it's US Army?
    • The source page [1] indicates the photos on the site are a donation from the family. I don't know how to source this. —Ed!(talk) 14:50, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • File:24_Infantry_Division_SSI.svg is sourced to itself
  • File:United_Nations_Service_Medal_for_Korea_Ribbon.svg, File:Korean_War_Service_Medal_ribbon.png, File:Presidential_Unit_Citation_(Korea).svg: on what source(s) were these images based?
    • I've never dealt with this before, but I know all the images editors are basing these on can be found here. —Ed!(talk) 14:50, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
