I suppose I must sort out how all this works.

I, myself can claim a rather fundamental attahcment to Kingscourt and Drumbbar... as well as the Internet itself. Having read the rather glowing presentation of the place ... I think it needs some amendment. For example Cabra Castle is hardly Norman... have a look at Trim or Bunraddy or Blarney. This castle is an 19th century invention. To be sure I am multi kingdom, (Connaugt, Ulster, and Munster. I have spent some time with my cousin, who has the gatehouse at Myode castle (13th century) at Craughwell. The old castle has been authentically restored; the "new castle" is along the very same lines as the Cabra Castle... it is a 19th century "gentlemans" construction that has been burned and looted to only a skeletal profile. Also I know and am familiar with the castles in Dalkey very well. The Cabra Castle is best known as a hotel. Stoats? and foxes. maybe a golf course with an overpopulation of rooks. To be fair I have never seen so many varied thrush, and even a few american robins hopping about. The fauna is not otherwise readily seen. The old wishing well and the history of the town can be significantly augmented. Maybe this is an agenda I can help with by looking with the eyes of a auslander.

Other items on the other hand can be well expanded. The Gypsym industry (digging up the limstone in Cavan) is quite international.. You can find the products as a mainline product in eastern Lithuania and Belarus. The company is is on the ball and a credit to olde Irelande.

I hope that my comments do not provoke any offense.. The greatest aspect of Ireland is and always has been the great heart of the people and the results that have come from it. Perhaps the old persian addage "The prophet is never welcome at home" can be my consolation. I think the Cavan culture is something that can be undertood as valuable insight for anyone. Currently I am occuping my faire share of Lithuania ... maybe offsetting the two hundred or so thousand Litvaks (and more Polaks) that are mumbling about in the grand emeral isle.

ON my last to to Eire two years ago, I recall provokaing a friendly stranger at Toner's Pub on lower Baggot street, "If I am wrong, I'd like to be the first to know". (He thanked me and he left)

All the best,
