Scandals -- why alleged?[edit]

Why the weasel word "alleged" in the paragraph about the Viking player scandal? Players were charged, convicted or pled guilty, and sentenced. So why is it alleged? Shouldn't the end result of this story be included? T-bonham (talk) 22:43, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Shoreline Length[edit]

The claim that the lake has 1,200 miles of shoreline is patently absurd. According to the city of Wayzata, Lake Minnetonka has around 140 miles or shoreline. I've changed the article to reflect this. --209.183.32.42 03:29, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I Googled Lake Minnetonka Shoreline, and you are correct. However, there are a range of values given from about 100 to 140 miles. We are looking for the most accurate value. Nanabozho 19:15, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Six Mile Creek[edit]

I just added Six Mile Creek to the infobox. It is one of the inflows to the lake. By area, it is certainly important, running though a number of smaller lakes on its way to the lake. I know there is some controversy about this being a creek or a marsh. The City of Minnetrista wants it to be a marsh because then it can regulate it. Up until Minnetrista wanted to change its status, there was virtually no discussion about it being a marsh. It was referred to as a creek. Either way, it's important to Lake Minnetonka because of the large area it drains into the lake. Runoff from agricultural and residential lands impact the lake, hopefully not much, but it does. Thank you. Nanabozho 20:48, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Weedersdigest Link[edit]

I've removed this link. I am open to a discussion about it. A week ago, I asked the one who put it on to remove it and haven't heard back from them. The author had very few contributions to Wikipedia. My reason for removal is the lack of a significant relation to Lake Minnetonka. Nanabozho 04:13, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fishing on the lake[edit]

This section sounds like travel brochure. What is a lounging island? Instructions on fishing seem out of place.--Weetoddid (talk) 03:53, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I deleted all the irrelevant junk and left some general statements in as a "recreation" section. Given that it's the focus of the lake, more detail is welcome, but not like the text that was there.Iulus Ascanius (talk) 04:38, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Connection With Christmas Lake[edit]

I read in the article on Christmas Lake that Lake Minnetonka is connected to Christmas Lake by a controversial underground canal, but could not find a reliable source. Anyone know of one? --Weetoddid (talk) 07:55, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Steamboats[edit]

Would like to add a reference to Lake Minnetonka Steamboats: An Inventory of a Photograph Album at the Minnesota Historical Society as it has a photograph of the Governor Ramsey, mentioned in the article, along with several other steamboats on the lake. Actual Height of Water Level As Controlled by Gray's Bay Dam?[edit]

In the "Geography" section, the sentence "Gray's Bay Dam on the Lake's eastern end helps control Lake Minnetonka's water level" could be improved by specifying at what level (i. e., feet above sea level) the dam controls the water level to. This is significant because the article on the Edina Mill (see the "Demise" section) claims (i.e. no reference provided) that the Gray's Bay Dam was built in 1895 at a height that decimated the operation of the Edina Mill. Geography[edit]

The math for the daily discharge at Gray's Bay Dam doesn't quite add up. At a discharge rate of 8.5 m³/s, the daily outflow would be 734,400 m³/day (8.5 m³/s x 60 s/min x 60 min/hr x 24 hr/day = 734,400 m³/day). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.202.102.98 (talk) 15:37, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

President Taft's Summer White House[edit]

The Lafayette Club was never a "Summer White House" for any president and this incorrect information should be deleted from the Lake Minnetonka article. Unfortunately, this false story has been published a number of times in recent years. It is contradicted by another Wikipedia page [[1]] documenting correctly that Taft summered in Beverly, MA from 1909-1912. According to several articles in the "Minneapolis Morning Tribune" Taft had lunch at the Lafayette Club in 1909 and 1911 and Lake Minnetonka businessmen lobbied unsuccessfully to locate a summer White House in Wayzata, MN and on Big Island on Lake Minnetonka. Section about high water levels[edit]

I think it would be helpful to include a section on summer 2014's record high water levels and its affect on the lake ecology/economy.

Boating section[edit]

I believe that there is now a length limitation promulgated by the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District. I would remove the claim that boats of any size are permitted but the paragraph collapses without it.
