In the very beginning it was once a year, then every third year. Since the 1980s, the established schedule is every fouth year, due to the increased size and also conveniently avoiding occurrences with World and Euro football championships and the Olympic Games. So, it was in 2005, 2009, 2013, 2017 and would have been scheduled for 2021. The "time in between" has been exceptionally increased to six years due to Covid for this once, so the next is in 2023, followed by 2027, 2031, etc., in case God wills it and we're yet alive.--138.245.1.1 (talk) 15:27, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
