Proposed merge[edit]

Before the proposed merge takes place could someone clarify: "3.Sir Alexander Lindsay of Evelick (1597-1663), 1st Baronet, succeeded by his eldest son," -from the Lindsay of Evelix article, and cf. "Sir Alexander Lindsay, 1st Baronet (died c. 1690)". Did the first baronet die in 1663 or 1690? Mannanan51 (talk) 00:42, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The 1st Bt was created as such in 1666 (per Lord Lindsay, 1849), and he died 1690. Chrislindesay (talk) 02:43, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Neither of the arms shown is correct.

The blazon of the Lindsay of Evelick arms is: Quarterly 1st and 4th Gules a Fess chequy Argent and Azure (for Lindsay), 2nd and 3rd Or a Lion rampant Gules armed and langued Azure debruised with a Ribbon Sable (for Abernethy), all within a Bordure Azure. The blazon of the Lindsay of Dowhill arms is: Gules a Fess chequy Argent and Azure between in chief a Mullet Argent and the base barry undy Or and Azure on the dexter Canton Argent a Sinister Hand couped apaumee erect Gules.
