Zapas[edit]

Re: 'Spare' division (cadre?), Spare is the literal translation of the Russian zapas. Zapas simply means reserve. It is not a status of the unit, but rather its personnel. The unit can never be in reserve because neither Soviet Union nor Russian Federation have such a thing. The personnel just go on the reserve rolls, and for officers and NCOs this means they add 'v zapase' to their rank (e.g. kapitan v zapase). The unit itself changes readiness status from A, to either B (Б), V (В) or G (Г). This means a higher degree of equipment conservation, lower training and operational performance, etc. The units that became bases are however another matter. They have become equipment conservation facilities. This means they have no reserve personnel assigned to them in peacetime, and are manned by a security and administrative detachment only. This is not a new experience for the Army, although not on this scale.--Mrg3105 (talk) 10:14, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that - that clears up, mostly, a question I've had for ages. Had a good handle on the VKhVTs but not the 'Spare' divisions. What's the source for your information? Buckshot06 (talk) 04:23, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Its just one of those things every one knows. My father was a sergeant v zapase until we migrated. His first division was in Trans-Caucasus, he was then called up for a free trip to Czechoslovakia (never made it in though), and he was called up again 3 days before we were supposed to fly out; he said no thanks. Let me look for a source you can use though ok? Alternatively you can just say "Greg said so" ;O)--Mrg3105 (talk) 08:11, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Beatification drive[edit]

Are there plans to eventually add the various unit awards to the articles like the Guards badge and the Orders?--Mrg3105 (talk) 01:21, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you mean putting them in this list, no. If you mean creating an article for each one of these divisions, with appropriate links to Order of Suvorov, Order of Kuznetsov, Order of the Red Banner etc, maybe, as part of the ten-year plan... Buckshot06 (talk) 01:25, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, I meant adding the images to the unit articles. I just used talk here as a central reference point--Mrg3105 (talk) 01:28, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It would be a nice idea. Why don't you create a small thumbnail version of each award and fiddle round with one particular division - 2nd Guards Taman would do, I suppose, and put them in the top-right hand corner (thumb|right somethingorother) Buckshot06 (talk) 01:32, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Where do I upload it to when I'm done?--Mrg3105 (talk) 01:47, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You only have to resize the existing image. Just steal it from the Order of the Red Banner, for example, article and fiddle with the size - change it to 150px or something Buckshot06 (talk) 01:49, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Divisions of the internal troops[edit]

"The division began its history in 1966, when the 3rd special motorized regiment was created in the legendary Separate Operational Division of the Internal Troops at that time (Separate Motorized Rifle Division of the Special Purpose of the Internal Troops of the USSR). Subsequently, this regiment became the 23rd separate brigade, and at the moment it is the 55th division." Errors in Feskov et al 2004[edit]

This is exactly the case - when neither Feskov nor other researchers, including those on Soldat.ru, are wrong. In Kazakhstan, in reality, since the times of the USSR, there were not 3 BHVTs, but more. In case of war, 3 motor rifle divisions from 3 BKhVT were to appear. Two fresh ones - from 155 MSD and 203 MSD - were created in 1989. One BKhVT was created in the 70s in Gvardeisky (237th rear guard division or military unit 21450) - the local military called it the Blue Division . In the same years, in the same Guards , the BHVT of the tank division of military unit 15632 or the Moscow Base of the Reserve Tanks was created . They called her MosBaza. And in Semipalatinsk in 1990 (not in 1989 - according to Feskov) - a Tank Reserve Base (military unit 75484) was formed into which armored vehicles were brought from the SGV, YUGV and TsGV withdrawn from the SGV - in total - 1350 tanks. In terms of quantity, it turns out for 4 tank divisions (according to the state, 3tp + 1msp) - they promised me to find data on the disbanded divisions for this BKhVT. But that's not all. In 1989, the 2028th BHVT or military unit 32355 was formed in Aktyubinsk. It was purely artillery - its origin is still a mystery to me. It was about her that the Famous Liar Viktor Baranets wrote in his masterpiece misinformation How Russian special forces stole nuclear weapons from Kazakhstan in the Stolen Division section. In reality, no one stole it in 1992, like nuclear weapons. It still exists and on its basis in the late 90s the 100th artillery brigade was formed. Total: 3 BHVT for 3 msd, 1 BHVT for 1 TD, 1 BHVT for 1 hell and 1 mega-BHVT for 4 TD - 6 units in total.

All this data - I received from those who served in these BKhVT. Corresponded through social networks - the same classmates . As for the link to Soldat.ru, you are right. I think it would be appropriate to post both links. Together with Feskov. Feskov has full names for some compounds. Soldat.ru has the correct location.-- Kalabaha1969 06:42, January 4, 2015 (UTC)

To be honest, I don't understand what you're arguing about. When I talked about 3 BKhVT, it was about motorized rifle troops. According to your data, there were also 3 of them, I didn’t say a word about the BKhVT of other military branches. Fil211 07:01, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
I mean that the BHVT (in Semipalatinsk) which Feskov pointed out was not from a motorized rifle division. And from tank divisions (from several). About tank - he is generally silent. -- Kalabaha1969 02:02 PM, January 4, 2015 (UTC)
Well, I'm talking about the same. He found 3 BKhVT, which were supposed to be deployed in the MRD, saw that 2 of them were created on the basis of the MSD and automatically decided that the third one was from the MSD. Although, in fact, as you quite correctly write, it was created from the technique of several TDs, which was derived from Eastern Europe. Fil211 10:38, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
