A new article of PBY Catalina Survivors is based on data extracted from a PDF file on the Catalina Society website, minus wrecks, partial airframes and no-hopers, with added corrections, references, links and other information. Note: In the main article PBY Catalina, I think we need some details of variants beyond the USN PBY- series, eg OA-10A, Canso, PB2B-1, etc. PeterWD (talk) 23:53, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The American Airpower Museum's PBY[edit]

The current state of the PBY cat at the airpower museum isn't Airworthy, the aircraft is still under restoration due to a corroded center fuel tank as well as other minor problems Tu-49 (talk) 14:11, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CF-NJL[edit]

I recently visited CF-NJL in 2022, and have loosely followed its stay over the past two decades that it's been stored there. From what I've heard over the years, the owner comes out about once a year and runs the engines to keep them lubricated. There is also occasional maintenance on the airframe as well - most recently in 2022 where all the control surfaces were removed to be refurbished back to airworthy condition (if I'm not mistaken, the control surfaces are fabric).

I strongly believe - but also can't confirm - that the aircraft is airworthy - or at least close to it. It's also not seeing enough work to be considered going under restoration, either. Still, considering it's been in a hangar for decades, I wonder if it will fly again.

I added a note to the article implying it may be airworthy, and added a ^{[citation needed]} tag to it. If someone can find a proper citation for it, I'd appreciate it because finding non-original research on this is nearly impossible. The Legacy (talk) 23:28, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
