Mess
[edit]I updated the list as best I could. Also updated Template:Districts of the Somali Region. Left more notes in this article, than I did in the template. I used a combination of sources:
- a 2015 map of Somali Region from OCHA (there's a copy in wikimedia)
- a CSA document I had downloaded previously — "Population Projection of Ethiopia for All Regions At Wereda Level from 2014 – 2017". I'm told the population numbers are all out of whack, but at least they had a list of zones and districts from the time period.
- a 2016 article I found, written in Somali, that detailed the outcome of a parliament meeting/vote where they announced 2 new regions and several new districts and city-districts. This was the key that made a lot of stuff make sense; even still the robo translation from Somali to English was useful but oh the spellings!
And even then, it was a mess. Add to this User:Shevonsilva (long since blocked) who created thousands of location articles, and at least 55 for Ethiopia, some of which had been put into use, some not, and some were duplicates of others in use but with a slightly different spelling. Like I said, it was a mess!
I cannot vouch for the final accuracy of today's project, but it's much better than it was before. I accomplished what I set out to do which was to get a SINGLE template (Template:Districts of the Somali Region) used for all zone and woreda articles in the region.
