But is it lace?[edit]

I suggest removing macrame from the template {{Lace types}}. It can go at the top level of {{Textile arts}}. Thoughts? - PKM 00:10, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grunge?[edit]

Grunge happened well after the last hippie became a stockbroker, and to the very best of my knowledge (and I am a middle-aged Washingtonian), had strictly no connection to macramé whatsoever. Laodah (talk) 18:08, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

Is anyone able to add pronunciation? 92.236.69.154 (talk) 12:01, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I pronounce it ma-KRAH-maay with my Received Pronunciation English accent because the acute accent over the final vowel, (and that's how I remember it being pronounced when I first heard it as a child.) alexx (talk) 10:26, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It depends where you are from: In the US it is Mac-ra-MAY, in Australia it is mah-CROM-me 108.233.106.215 (talk) 15:55, 30 December 2019 (UTC)PhyllisBeaMyra[reply]

What is the source of the term "bell fringes"?[edit]

I have heard of a macramé handle under a ships bell being called:

 a bell pull
 a bellrope
 a bell handle
 a clapper tassel

but if I google "bell fringe" all I get is Leonard Nimoy. Can anyone shed some light on the term bell fringes? alexx (talk) 10:34, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
