Time before Shardik[edit]

I don't believe Maia occurs 20 years before Shardik--that seems too long: the author says a "few" years, and the character of Melethys is 6 or 7 in Maia, which should help pin down the difference (she appears in Shardik also).

Seconded. In one of the later chapters of Shardik (it might be "The Kynat") I believe Kelderek refers to Melathys as "not yet twenty". (Not a direct quote, as I don't have the book in front of me.) I've long assumed that to put Melathys at 19 years old, and therefore puts Maia about a dozen years before Shardik (at most.) —Salt-Man Z 204.147.87.162 17:49, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shardik is searchable at Amazon, I see. In "The Priestess's Tale", Melathys says that when she came to Zeray, she was "not twenty-one years old," so you must be right. I'll fix it. —JerryFriedman

Cleanup[edit]

Just a straight-forward summary - not chapter by chapter[edit]

I think there is more point to actually write a straight-forward summary instead of chapter by chapter. If you do it chapter by chapter, you may as well tell the people to read this instead of the book. A summmary is supposed to make the story much much shorter and nobody will want a very long wiki article. I think that's a good idea, but may I suggest a less detailed summary? Summaries are fun to write—I've done a couple—but a good thing to think about might be how much anyone wants to know who isn't planning to read the book. And what you can leave out. Why are you saying that Genshed rapes Maia? I can only find two encounters between them: in Chapter 5, where she kicks him in the stomach, and in Chapter 6, where Occula saves her.
