Usage of "Pretender" infobox rather than "Royalty" one[edit]
Maria Francisca is a pretender via the Miguelist Branch of House Braganza and claimant to several defunct titles. As such, I propose the usage of the "Infobox Pretender" and not the "Infobox Royalty". There is no royalty in Portugal, however, there is the understanding that if Portugal were to choose to become a monarchy, Afonso and his family would be highly considered to be the Portuguese royal family and assume the claimed titles. Doesn't answer the point. She is still not royal. Therefore, and being in the line of succession, to a possible restauration of the monarchy, and in the case of her father and brothers death, she would be a pretender. She would be a pretender to the throne if her father and brothers were dead but they aren’t and she’s not, so listing her as a pretender based on that seems to be a violation of Wikipedia:Crystal Ball. As for being a claimant to royal titles in general, given that that format change would affect plenty of other members of defunct royal houses, perhaps that would be a discussion to bring up at the talk page for Wikipedia:WikiProject Royalty and Nobility if you wish to see what the community at large thinks. 170.76.231.175 (talk) 19:14, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

When we are discussing claimed titles and several possible lines/branches to a succession of a defunct throne we do have to, in the realm of the abstract, think of the possible scenarios.
In the case of Portugal and the Braganzas, the state has recognised the Miguelist branch as the rightful one and for the public, Duarte Pio and family are the most known claimers/pretenders and would highly be considered for the role of Kinf/Royal family.
