Disambiguation[edit]

This is bound to cause some confusion, because there is a Seyfert galaxy called Markarian 50 that probably has much greater notability and many more literature references than this cluster. More generally, Markarian's galaxy catalog is much better known than his open cluster catalog, and should probably take precedence in terms of naming. This is why SIMBAD calls this cluster "Cl Mrk 50" and not "Mrk 50", because "Mrk 50" most often refers to the galaxy. It might be better to choose a different title for this article using a different designation for the cluster. Aldebarium (talk) 21:35, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
