Hey[edit]

This is an article I'd like to help with. What do you need? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdamCaputo (talkcontribs) 17:08, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well it ain't for me to boss people around or anything but a section on the recent changes allowing MSM who have not had sex in a year to donate would be helpful Quickbeam44 (talk) 18:47, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I threw some content in from the bbc article on the subject. More later I think — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdamCaputo (talkcontribs) 17:24, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be sensible to lose the 'arguments for' and against? I'm not sure they are unique to the UK and are covered in the main article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdamCaputo (talkcontribs) 17:50, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

reduced, and I also added content from the Independent and Stonewall. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdamCaputo (talkcontribs) 20:21, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistencies in policy[edit]

I recently renewed my drivers licence and ticked the organ donation section. I had a letter this morning from the NHS Blood and Transplant department in Bristol and thought I should call and clarify, as, in addition to being a gay man, I had Hepatitis B about 20 years ago and Malaria about 5 years ago (both fully cured). After some questions and (apparently) careful checks of the situation, the helpful and friendly woman I spoke to clarified that there are no restrictions with regard my being an organ donor, (the only restrictions are on someone with a CJD diagnosis) but if I've had sex within the last year I cannot donate blood. This seems hugely inconsistent. If there is a disease risk from my blood, why not from my organs? I believe this matter is worthy of a mention in the main article.Adagio67 (talk) 09:45, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Move page[edit]

Hey, I think we should move the page to "Men who have sex with men blood donor controversy in the United Kingdom" for the same reasons the main article was moved. [1] --Prcc27 (talk) 21:43, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:NUS LGBT Donation Not Discrimination flyer.jpg[edit]

File:NUS LGBT Donation Not Discrimination flyer.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a non-free use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
