Notability tag[edit]

Fredericknoronha, can you help establish that this meets WP:BIO or WP:GNG? Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 19:00, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    • Boleyn, thanks for your comment. It's kind of tough, given that he's form the mid-19th century and that too from a small (then colonial) society like Goa. Obviously he's played an influential role in the historiography of the times though and is very relevant to us working on Goa. Please see a list of his published work, for instance. Hope this is convincing. Fredericknoronha (talk) fredericknoronha (talk) 13:17, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rswallis10, inviting you to join discussion as you were the one who tagged it for notability. Do you feel your concerns have been addressed? Fredericknoronha, I agree that 19th-centry Goans will often be difficult, and thanks for taking the time to write this article. At the moment, I don't think we can verify its notability, but hopefully someone can find some sources to establish that he meets WP:BIO or WP:GNG. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 19:24, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Boleyn: @Fredericknoronha: Obviously the lack of citations concern me; however, I understand that it can be difficult to find citations for certain topics. I just did a quick scan of the page when I tagged it, and at first glance it didn't appear to meet the notability guideline. I would feel more comfortable with if a third citation was added, but in the mean time, could you add least properly cite both citations that you currently have using this guideline. Thank you for all your hard work! Rswallis10 (talk) 02:18, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rswallis10, thanks for your response. Fredericknoronha, this article may meet WP:Notability (academics) #3: The person is or has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society)... The issue at the moment is that it is stated in the article, but it still needs to be verified by a reliable source. Frederick, can you help? Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 06:44, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
