What?

Umm on New Balance shoes I often see things like cantilever and other things that don't make sense; what does it all mean? (Sorry for being so vague) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Expo377 (talkcontribs) 02:01, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

NPOV

This article is rather POV, mostly in the features section. It sounds to me like an advertisement for New Balance sneakers. I don't know enough about podiatry to trim it down but it certainly needs to be shorter and less gushing about the benifits of the various features. --TexasDex 01:40, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

There is no "features" section (at least, anymore) so I'm going to take the thing off. --Yarnalgo 17:14, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Agreed, this article is a brochure, and a stupid one at that. It makes it sound like Nike walks through flea markets buying shoes, then sells them, with this nonsense, "—in contrast to its competitors in the same market space, such as Nike and Adidas, who design products in the US and Europe, but purchase the majority of their Footwear and Apparel from manufacturers in China, Vietnam, and other developing nations." Nike and Adidas ARE manufacturers. --75.79.150.250 (talk) 08:13, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Made in America

New Balance sent me this information (July 19, 2006) when I complained that the NB shoes I had just purchased read "Made in China". I can't verify the claim -- which is the only reason I haven't added it to Wikipedia -- but below is the info they sent me about product origin.

Men's Running: MADE IN USA M2001GR M2001BK M2000GR M992GL M991GL, M991NV, M991BK M990GR M587NV M498GR/W MW811WT, MW811BK, MW811BE

Mens Running: Materials sourced overseas but assembled in USA or entirely made overseas M881WB - USA and overseas M880WG- USA and overseas M1023--made in USA of imported materials M1122--USA and overseas M1221-USA and overseas M719--USA and overseas M718--USA and overseas M766--USA and overseas

Men's Walking: Assembled in USA of imported materials MW810BE/BK/WT MW658 MW758

Mens Walking: USA and Overseas MW843 formerly the MW842 MW575 formerly MW574

Women's Running: MADE iN USA W992GL W991BW/GR W587WB W498WN W856BW

Assembled in the USA: W1023

Materials sourced overseas but assembled in the USA or entirely made overseas: W881- USA and overseas W880 - USA and overseas W1121--USA and overseas W1220-USA and overseas W719--USA and overseas W718--USA and overseas W766--USA and overseas

Women's Walking: MADE IN USA WW811WT

Women's Walking: Assembled in USA of imported materials WW658 WW657 WW758 WW757 WW810BE/BK/WT

Women's Walking: USA and Overseas WW843 formerly the WW842 WW575 formerly the WW574

And it goes on to say: "There are six New Balance owned and operated factories. Five are in the U.S. and one is in the U.K." ... "There are four core subcontracted factories in China, one in Vietnam, and one in the U.S. In total, about 75% of all our shoes are produced in factories not owned by New Balance."

Good idea, I really agree: Made in America is important. I can add info that the New Balance 990's, 991 and 992's are USA made models, both men & womens shoes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Barbieone (talkcontribs) 04:04, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi, based on this article I just bought a pair of running shoes: MR1770GR to be precise. It says: 'made in China'. For me it's hard to believe the shoes are made in the US while the label says: 'made in China'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.74.0.42 (talk) 21:32, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Discussion on merge

Support and this thing has been there over 2 months so I'm going to give it another 2 or 3 days and then merge the articles. --Yarnalgo 17:14, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

NBAS - Neonatal Behavioral Assesment Scale

Someone should write an article about the psychological child devlopment instrument NBAS. Much more interesting and important than som shoe manufactorer.

Someone already did.--chris.lawson 21:42, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Online retail edit

Removed nbwebexpress as official New Balance online store. New Balance does not currently have an official online store. NBWebExpress is Independently owned and operated by Express Blessings, Inc., a retail licensee of New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc

Disapproval toward prior edits removing entire Made in USA section

I understand that the section that I added may have sounded like PR from New Balance. However, I directly referenced the source of the information(the company) I was unaware that *directly quoting* what a company says about *its own products* was a no-no. I don't understand why no one simply added to this section instead of removing it entirely. Someone should have used these statements as a counterpoint to their own information to round out a *balanced* NPOV position. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chiaroscuros (talkcontribs).

I tagged it, but did not remove it myself. I have reinstated it, as I felt the paragraph was worthwhile, but came across as a bit "PR-ish". Fourohfour 12:32, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Made in the UK (sic)

To go with the "Made in the USA" stance, New Balance's British website also promotes its UK factory under the "Made in the UK" banner. See here. 86.132.141.14 (talk) 17:31, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

possible new style of shoe

I own 2 pairs of your 470 style of shoe. Would like to know if there is another style that has the mesh on the sides but not on top.I have a tendency to lift my large toe when working and the mesh tears easily . I have another pair that was picked out by my wife unfortunately they are not New Balance .They have some mesh on sides but still not cool enough for the heat that I work in . New Balance is what I count on not some knock off .Please contact me thru e-mail sherryandkirk@frontiernet.net
