name[edit]

her name is sophia. some people... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.67.63.222 (talk) 19:48, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, she was christened Sophie Fevvers. (Quote: Fevvers we named her... Sophie suffices for her legal handle. p10, Vintage Books London version). It's Mr Rosencreutz who, to her surprise, calls her "Sophia" (As well as 'Venus', 'Flora', 'Azrael' and the names of various other mythological archetypes.) Changing it back to Sophie throughout the article. ~ Wave —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.28.117.34 (talk) 11:22, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

original research[edit]

Despite significant scholarship on this work, this article is completely riddles with unsourced commentary and what appears to be original research and speculation. Anyone care to help fix it up with me? --Lquilter (talk) 20:02, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree ... I haven't read the novel (yet) but I'm afraid that I think most of this article needs to be struck. There are no references for any of sections 4,5,6,7 and 8. Given the length of time this original research has been present on the page, I suggest deletion of those sections as there has been plenty of time for them to be cited by now. 119.18.9.138 (talk) 01:52, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Opening paragraph reads like a review[edit]

I think it should read more like an encyclopedia entry. The inclusion of complementary terms and flattery for the author are not in keeping with Wikipedia's mission. --Crawdaddyjoe (talk) 22:23, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch. I cleaned up some of that. Aristophanes68 (talk) 16:29, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Much better. Thanks! --Crawdaddyjoe (talk) 06:07, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
