Does anyone else think intermeshing twin screw extruders deserve a mention in this article? Twin screws are responsible for a enormous amount of the materials made in the world and could not work without the fundamental principles of a non-circular gear.
Granted twin screw extruders gears/elements do not transmit torque directly to each other, but they do transmit torque to a material and to each other through this material. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ben5309 (talk • contribs) 01:33, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
Layman's explanation of the constraints of NCGs?[edit]
The math there is useful in answering this, I'm sure, but for most of us, what are the geometric constraints of NCGs? For example would the pointed bottom of a heart shape prevent its use in a fixed-axle gear set?
