Hooping tower[edit]

I see the article mentions both hooping and a control tower. What I don't see, is a general Wikipedia article that discusses what these institutions mean to the railroad business. Something to link to. Jim.henderson (talk) 13:52, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I thought there was such an article once, but I know that there were proposals to delete lists of railroad terminology a month or so ago. Maybe hooping could be linked to that. ----DanTD (talk) 14:17, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, hooping being obsolete and never very important, no big deal if it remains mysterious. Tower, on the other hand, is mentioned in many articles, including underground towers in the subway. That's a very strange concept and needs a link, not to a list but to a section in a descriptive article. If there's a place that nicely describes railroad towers, that can also be a place for a brief mention of hooping. And if there's a tower article, it ought to have a photo. Darn it, I was bicycling near Harold Tower this past Sunday and the previous Tuesday but was in a hurry both times and didn't think to pedal on up to see whether it is easily visible from the street.
