Parents
[edit]Just corrected the parents' details. The article claimed that Eric was the 'owner / manager' of the Royal Hotel and Marion simply his wife. In fact the sources say that Eric and Marion were joint manager and manageress. They did not own the Royal, which originally belonged to the Great Central Railway, then the LNER after Grouping, then British Rail in 1948. It was bought from the British Transport Commission in 1949 by Hewitt Brothers, the big Grimsby brewery. Hewitts was taken over by United Breweries in 1960 and United merged with Charringtons in 1962. In 1964 the Royal -- where Edward VII and Queen Alexandra once stayed as Prince and Princess of Wales -- was closed and demolished to make way for the Cleethorpe Road flyover. The Hodges were seemingly the last managers. https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/news/nostalgia/last-orders-at-the-royal-702766 http://breweryhistory.com/wiki/index.php?title=Hewitt_Brothers_Ltd Khamba Tendal (talk) 17:18, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
