Archiving[edit]

I've archived the old talk page, because it was filled up with loads of rubbish --Vinni3 (talk) 19:29, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you allowed to do that? Seems like you are censoring opinions you don't like. Dream Focus (talk) 11:28, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Archiving talk pages is quite usual--Vinni3 (talk) 19:11, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject videogames assessment[edit]

Remained stub class low importance. Please expand the article using reliable sources in order to establish Penguin Chat's notability, without this the article is likely to be listed for deletion in the future. Someoneanother 23:26, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability? Its notable that Penguin Chat became the extremely successful Club Penguin after its third version, and that Disney paid $350 million for it outright, plus another $350 million in bonuses if they meet certain requirements by 2009. Dream Focus (talk) 11:36, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hear, hear! I removed a section that made the article non-netural —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vinni3 (talkcontribs) 18:06, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Major Cleanup[edit]

I cleaned up this page today - I removed un refed parts and had to remove the character table due to the fact that the character names were copyrighted. Please stop referring it as Experimental Penguins - we have no proof about this.--Vinni3 (talk) 07:06, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I was surprised to find this post on Wikipedia. Alot of the information about Penguin Chat online is incorrect. I have slowly writing the complete history of Club Penguin starting with a little experiment called "Experimental Penguins". This experiment was later named "Penguin Chat". Finally I wrote a two-page design document for a virtual world in 2004 that would later become "Club Penguin". Below are some links that may assist you in this article:

Thanks for taking the time to write this article.

Why this page should NOT be deleted[edit]

This page on "Penguin Chat" should not be deleted because: A) The Club Penguin page refers to it several times as the forerunner of Club Penguin. B) Time should be allowed for more refs to be found. C) It is still in the middle of a major revamping. If you require more reasons, I'll be happy to state them. --Vinni3 (talk) 07:13, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Vinni 3 Penguin Chat is an important stage of avatar chat on the web and in some respects is as important as Club Penguin that followed.

I was involved in the site for many years and can post extra info over the next few weeks to increase the encyclopedic value of the page.

I just saw in the talk archive people saying that penguinchat.com is a fake, well that is totally incorrect. After seeing experimental penguins contactmusic.com a large online entertainment site commissioned Rocket Snail to build their own updated version for their users, this is why it is the only version still available online as contactmusic.com commissioned it. Futher proof can be seen on the contactmusic.com Fun page as there is a 3d verson of Mancala snails built by Rocket Snail. I was infact the contactmusic.com webmaster at the time so all of this is first hand knowledge. Papamantra (talk) 19:59, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fake[edit]

I have removed the note that this chat system is a fake as it is totally incorrect. It like all of the other penguin systems was developed by Lance Priebe and is based on experimental penguins.Papamantra (talk) 20:39, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CopyEdit[edit]

I just tidied up and generally corrected various sections of this page, removed yet more references to experimental penguins, added a couple of references and made an edit to the content of the 'Rooms' table. I also removed the characters table completely, and replaced it with a reference to the official penguin list.

Hopefully THAT will solve any outstanding problems!

PS: I left the stub marker in place, because there really is not enough references and general information there to call it a full-blown article. If anyone has any extra information, please put it in! We need it to make sure this page is not consigned to the great Wiki in the sky...
