This article needs re-writing

I don't want to offend anyone but it very obvious that this article was not written or thoroughly edited by anyone who has ever really studied and designed refrigeration systems. It appears to be written by people who read through some material in other Wikipedia articles or in an encyclopedia or some Internet web site and then decided they were expert enough to write or edit this article. That just simply doesn't get it done correctly!! - mbeychok 19:29, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Excuse me, but what is the difference between the concepts "Phase change heat pump" and "Vapor-compression refrigeration?" Looking at both articles, there doesn't seem to be a difference between the two. If that's the case, perhaps they should be merged. Ed Sanville 12:37, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Um, if you have any criticisms of the article why don't you make the changes that you think are necessary? Also, I support the merge proposal; the two articles tackle bascially the same concept. 15:36, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

There is an existing article named Heat pump which is by far a better article than this one. In my opinion, this article should simply be deleted and I am going to take the bold action of tagging it as such.

As for merging this article or Heat pump with Vapor-compression refrigeration, I strongly disagree with merging the articles. Refrigeration and heat pumps are, in the common and widely accepted usage, two distinctly separate techniques. Such Wikipedia articles are intended for a wide range or readers ... and not just for thermodynamic purists. Again, I strongly believe Heat pump and Vapor-compression refrigeration should remain as separate articles and this article should be simply deleted. - mbeychok 18:56, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Merge with Vapor-Compression Refrigeration

I agree that this article and Heat pump should not be merged. However, the content and meaning of 'phase change heat pump' and 'vapor-compression refrigeration' are the same. Assuming reversing-valves and heat exchanger optimization are addressed in the surviving article, the articles need to be merged, and a redirect done from here. 129.237.114.171 15:45, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

I disagree strongly that this Phase change heat pump article should be merged with Vapor-compression refrigeration. Phase change heat pumps (with reversing valves so that they can function as air coolers or as air heaters) are, to a very large extent, primarily used in HVAC applications in residential homes and other buildings. On the other hand, vapor-compression refrigeration is very widely used in large-scale industrial processes as well as in air conditioning and I strongly believe it deserves to be a stand-alone article. In my opinion, it would be much better to merge Heat pump and Phase change heat pump and I am therefore taking the bold step of changing the merge tag to that effect. mbeychok 18:15, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
