Talk:Quad-band
2G and Japan?
[edit]I got in Japan recently with a "quadband 2G phone", and found myself unable to place phonecalls.
There is currently no more GSM operator in Japan. You'll need at least a 3G phone to place calls, that's what I was told from my phone provider in France (Orange).

This shouldn't be merged with Dual-Band or anything else it is a totally different subject! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.219.190.125 (talk) 11:39, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Merger
[edit]If you want to merge, then I suggest you create an article for GSM Bands, where all of them are merged as and put as different sections of the same article. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 16:35, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
That's exactly what I was thinking. DLPanther (talk) 06:47, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Alread exists an article like that. Is GSM frequency bands --Bruno Benayon (talk) 13:56, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Registering objection to merger. I think the page must remain as it is. People who seek to purchase a phone need to quickly look up technical phrases like tri-band and quad-band and they need a swift, direct and frank response from an encyclopedia. That's what this page currently offers. Leave it as is. Fleet Command (talk) 13:10, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Seeing as this could refer to many different technologies (not just mobile telecommunications), I'm turning this into a disambiguation page. I'll move the relevant 2G, 3G & Device content to GSM frequency bands#Multi-band and multi-mode phones, UMTS frequency bands#Multi-band & List of HSPA mobile phones, respectively. To address the concern of Fleet Command (talk) voiced above, I'll ensure the disambiguation page headlines a concise definition of the terms use in mobile telecommunications. --GJDR (talk) 19:16, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
