Hello out there[edit]

Hi all -- relief wells are THE one way this is going to be stopped, according to everything I'm seeing. So - I'm wondering how this piece could possibly be a stub nearly six weeks into the blowout of Deepwater Horizons.

I will be focusing on the topic and will bring edits and suggestions as they surface the next couple of days.Dioxinfreak (talk) 04:22, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pumped in or out?[edit]

According to the reference from BP, a liquid, heavier than oil, is pumped into the well:

A specialized heavy liquid is then pumped into the flowing well to bring it under control[1]

A great source to work with, but I am unqualified to use it[edit]

Please see http://spectrum.ieee.org/energy/fossil-fuels/how-to-drill-a-relief-well . I am no expert in this field, so I am unqualified to handle adding major stuff from the IEEE Spectrum article into the Wikipedia article. Jesse Viviano (talk) 04:55, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
