Comments from Lethepku(talk)[edit]

The article meets the project requirements and follows wikipedia guidelines.

The article is well written with correct English. I have some comments on the structure and specific little things.

General Comments

(1) The article described the parameterization of Convective Cloud and Turbulent flux in detail. I think the reasons why you only describe the two parts need to be elaborated before any detailed description of parameterization.

(2) The title and the body of part 2 are mismatched. The title is “Clouds and Convection”. However, the body of this section only described parameterization of “Convective Cloud”. Parameterization of “Large scale supersaturation Clouds” and “Convection” is expected if the tile is “Clouds and Convection”.

(3) Parameterization of turbulent flux in GCM in Part3 needs to be elaborated. The K-theory took too much space of this part. However, the parameterization section, which should be the major part, seems relatively short. Re-organize this section.

(4) To sum up, I think a more clear structure could be

“ 1 What is the ABL? 2 Why is modeling of the ABL so difficult? 3 Convective Clouds 3.1 moist adiabatic adjustment 3.2 Kuo parameterization 3.3 Arakawa-Schubert scheme 4 Turbulent flux 4.1 K-theory 4.2 bulk aerodynamic formulae 5 References “

Specific Comments

(1) It’s better to provide more links to relevant other Wikipedia articles, such as troposphere, turbulence, convection, and so on.

(2) In the second paragraph of “Why is modeling of the ABL so difficult”, the scale of the ABL process and the model resolution could be more quantitatively described. I suggest including numbers of km or so.

Citation

(3) “Local versus non-local closure” and “Mixing length theory” lack citation.

(4) Citations to books did not include the page number.

Figures

(5) Make the first two figures smaller.

(6) Margin of figures with equations is too wide. You can also put the formula in text instead of using a figure.

Thanks! I've made most of the changes you suggested. Working on the turbulent flux/parameterization section now.Kquinn1981 (talk) 18:30, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
