Regarding Citation Needed Tag[edit]

With regards to the "Citation Needed" tag added to the following sentence: "Asked years later by a family member what was his inspiration for the infamous "Can You Dig It" speech, Hill said that he ad-libbed key moments of that speech."

I am Roger Hill's sister.. I spent the majority of this weekend updating my brother's page to make sure his life and death were accurately portrayed before the news agencies picked up word of his passing.. I was a WITNESS to this question (asked by my husband) and Roger's response. Our brother Wendell Hill was also there when this discussion took place. How would I go about providing a valid citation for this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DivaVocals (talkcontribs) 03:46, February 27, 2014 (UTC)‎

Hello. If you know of his relating the story to any news agency (radio, tv, newspaper or magazine), then it can be sourced and the "cite needed" tag removed. While it is a great story that he told to family, Wikipedia views it as original research, meaning anything added must merit verifiability (something we can readily click on). We will leave the ab-lib part for now. Thanks for adding to his page! — Wyliepedia 11:47, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I would echo Wylie, in that, though I understand that it's a difficult time for the family, Wikipedia relies on reliable references, evidence that can be independently verified. Articles for people who have recently died are counted under the guidelines of living people. WP work to protect the privacy of the subject of these biographies, making them as well-sourced and accurate as we can get them, respecting the subject and for legal reasons. Thanks Wylie and Anna for the clarification. Understood. I will see if I can find something that verifies what my brother stated in that conversation. In the meantime while I may not be able to leave in my anecdotal story, I did find several news sources which cite my brother saying something similar to the ad-lib comment he made n other interviews. I'll add that information instead. I think the point I wanted to get across to his fans is that the scene my brother is most known for was in part his own creation.

On another note, I see that there have been people who have been attempting to add unsubstantiated family claims to my brother's biography. Speaking on behalf of the Hill family, we appreciate you guys being on the case. I will communicate this information back to the rest of my family. Original chosen actor for Cyrus was a real gang lead?[edit]

Note number 7 mentions an interview with Roger Hill as the reference for "[...] after the original actor chosen for the part, a real life gang leader, mysteriously disappeared just before filming started.[7]", but I could not find much about this in the interview available at the link:

The only related thing is

WMS: Did yourself, the cast, or crew feel any danger filming in front of real-life gangs?

I never had any idea there were any real gangs there.

And by the way, Roger Hill looks like The Rock.
