The historic district and the neighborhood are substantially the same. This is a big historic district encompassing most of the traditional neighborhood boundaries, which is confirmed by a reading of the NRHP nomination form. Only exclusions are modern structures on the north and west sides, most of which is a modern industrial park. --Polaron | Talk 19:09, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed what appears to have been a sneaky implementation of one side of the proposed merger. The implementation left open the merger proposal tag on the South End Historic District (Stamford, Connecticut) article, hence escaped notice by me and others working to develop the Fairfield County NRHP articles. It is only very random that i come across this, and find there were two articles both presenting self as the article for the NRHP historic district, duplicating material. I think the behavior of sneakily implementing a half-merger, avoiding discussion, is poor.
For the record, in absence of a proper discussion and decision and implementation, I oppose the merger. I don't oppose a new, properly formed merger proposal and unbiased notice to WikiProject Connecticut, and discussion. --doncram (talk) 20:26, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This was supposed to be merged. It was unilaterally split by Doncram during extensive discussion. No local editor came to develop the NRHP article in the last 6+ months. The neighborhood must be much bigger than the historic district, because a large part of the neighborhood has been knocked down and is undergoing massive redevelopment. I don't see enough sourcing to support a good separate article, however, so I support merging the two. There are 2 specific exclusions. On the east, the area bounded by the railroad tracks, Stamford Canal, Market St and John St. On the west, the area bounded by Washington, Pacific St, and Walter Wheeler, plus the dock area.
