The following text was removed from the article as Original Research on 14th Feb. This was the correct action to take, however the removed content may be of use in guiding further research into the subject, and has been copied here. Note that the two paragraphs were added independently by separate contributors.
- I inherited an old scrapebook form a deceased aunt. In it, I found an original brochure for the S.S President from its maiden cruise in St. Louis, Mo. It has many pictures of the decks and dance areas. It offered a spacious lounge area on the first deck. It had a Grande Salon on the second deck with live bands and dancing on the Starlight Cruises. The Grande Salon was two decks high with a mezzanine all the way around. The President had four deck levels. It had a Service Buffet on fourth deck. A distinctive feature the new President had was the four Ladies' Rest Rooms, or Powder Rooms as they were called. Each had a different design and color. One was called the Copper and Jade Room. Another was called the Golden Petal Room, another was called the Plaid Room and the last was called the Black and White Room. Tickets were sold in advance for $1.25 at a ticket office at 8th and Olive in St. Louis, Mo. It was an oil burning vessel so there was no smoke coming from the stacks. Mayor Bernard F. Dickmann, was the Honorary Captain of the new S.S. President on the maiden voyage, July 1, 1933.
