Untitled[edit]

This page is still being worked but is now ready to come live. I've added references from lifehacker and kim komando and will add more going forward. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns, but please understand the page is not 100% complete, and I will need another week minimum to refine and polish it. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

While I understand the page is incomplete, the original DB was placed because the company does not appear to meet the Notability guidelines. Cheers. Bagheera (talk) 22:35, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted because... --Judicator 22:36, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

Please see my comments on the discussion board. I've added references from lifehacker.com and kim komando.com, both of which are respected outside sources on startup websites. I understand the page needs to be refined and edited some more, and I will do this over the next week, but these external references should be sufficient for establishing the legitimacy of this wikipedia article. Please refer to those sources to see the articles themselves. Judicator 00:56, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

"significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the topic" is the wikipedia standard for notability. Clearly, "significant" may be subject to differing interpretations but lifehacker and Kim Komando are certainly "reliable secondary sources" in the field. I'll continue to add more going forward. Judicator 00:56, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Honestly, I'm not sure either of those sources count as "reliable third party sources" in this context. I'll leave the decision to another experienced editor or Admin. Cheers, Bagheera (talk) 23:20, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your honesty Bagheera. I too will trust in my fellow editors/admins to make the right decision. I hope that seven reliable secondary sources, including a division of the wall street journal and lifehacker, will vouch for the integrity of this article. Please trust also that I would never write a wiki article without properly considering reliable third party sources. I've been an editor on and off for many years and I give you my word I would not do anything to sully the integrity of this site. Thank you. Judicator 00:56, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

I've now added a reference to SwoopThat from the Wall Street Journal Classroom addition as well as several prominently published college newspapers. I believe these references go toward the article's sufficiently meeting the notability guidelines. I would now request a removal of the speedy deletion notice, and I will continue to improve the quality of this page as time permits. Thank you. Judicator 00:56, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Orphan Status[edit]

This article has been labeled an orphan. Presently, in addition to the seven category pages at the bottom of the article, the "List of California Companies" and "List of San Diego Companies" also link to this article. In terms of linking other articles to this articles, I've found that most other articles in the area do not mention specific company names. Rather, they provide a general description of the concept at issue, and separate list includes the company names. If another editor can locate an article that would be appropriate for including a SwoopThat.com link, please include the link accordingly and make a note of it here. Thank you.
