Development
[edit]Tandem skydiving was developed in the mid-1980's by parachute manufacturers including Bill Booth, Ted Strong, and John B Sherman, among others.

Why would two people fall faster than one person. Doesn't that violate Newtononian physics? Zcleary 02:03, 31 March 2007 (UTC)zcleary
- It has more to do with drag than with mass. Without the air, a solo an a tandem would fall at the same rate. With air their weights are offset by the drag of the atmosphere. bdelisle

Only for training?
[edit]I'm not a skydiver, just wondering if it's accurate to state that tandem skydiving necessarily involves a student and an instructor. Even if that's the most common use case, would it be more accurate to state descriptively that tandem skydiving is skydiving with two people attached into the same harness? We can then go on to state that it is primarily used for instruction. Retswerb (talk) 03:51, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
