Oasis had previously refused to let other novelty acts parody their music[edit]

That might be true, but I don't think it's relevant in this case. As I understand it, the original artist can only block a release if the song has in some way been changed from the original, which in this case it hadn't. In any case, Supernova released a cover of Some Might Say as well. Although I do vaguely remember Oasis trying to stop similar releases at one stage...
