Just wondering if some of the plot summary should be in less definite terms? There is a lot of vagueness and things open to interpretation in the lyrics/liner notes. For instance, I never thought of Light working for Wiley's government, just that he worked for the city--Like a low level engineer, etc. (not that he couldn't have--in fact, it would be very cool if he helped bring this whole situation about in some way) And the biggest difference in my interpretation would be the ending, which is quite vague. I never saw him as refusing to attack Wiley--I did not think that he was physically present. Mega Man states that he will fight on and destroy Wiley, but he is abandoning humanity to its fate.
"(Choir: He could not save himself!)

(How could he save us?)
(For all the good he's shared)As I live (Your brother failed us)
There is no evil that will stand (There's nothing you could do)
And I will finish (You had no choice)
What was started (Why do you cry for him?)
By the Proto Man (You are the hero)
(You are the hero!) And you are the dead." ( as obtained from [1])

Regarding Light's position and him "bringing the situation about" -- have you listened to "Father of Death" yet? It alludes to those themes, and I imagine they'll be explored more fully on the second album. You may be right about the summary, though. Go ahead and make it more vague, if you feel it's appropriate, and I'll see what you did, and change it, and add on, and someone else will see it and so on... (that's what Wikipedia is for, right?).

P.S. Again, regarding vagueness: I assumed that Mega Man's words "I will finish/What was started/By the Proto Man" were intended as an ironic callback to his statement of purpose in "Will of One" -- as in, his original task was to finish Proto Man's work of destroying Wily, but now, scarred by the fighting, he has changed his mind. He'll abandon mankind to their fate at the hands of Wily, but in doing so is STILL following in the footsteps of Proto Man. Mega Man's character development, under this interpretation, might be seen as similar to Proto Man's, but just a few steps behind him. That line suggests not Mega Man's commitment to the original task, but an acceptance of his brother's fatalistic view of mankind's "destiny".

Just my take.

Request for minor correction[edit]

Great article! I don't understand this sentence from the plot summary though: I suspect a word or two was omitted or overlooked when the author was drafting it (I do that all the time...):

"In Doctor Light's grief, he sets about destroying his laboratory, instead building a new robot, Mega Man. ("Funeral for a Son")."
