The Riddle lyrics
[edit]There is a persistent rumour / urban myth / whatever about the lyrics to The Riddle (the song) which isn't documented in the article or here, so I'll outline it. Apparently during the recording sessions for the album the producer had recorded the synth and rhythm tracks for the song and needed a vocal line to set the basic balance. No lyrics existed for the song at that time, so Kershaw was asked to write some 'temporary' lyrics purely to set up the studio mix. Kershaw wrote some random lyrics the same evening in the pub literally on the back of an envelope, and recorded them the next day. The producer was so impressed by the way the lyrics fitted the song that they were retained, despite being essentially meaningless.
If anybody can substantiate this with a good reference, I think it would make a worthwhile addition to the article. --80.176.142.11 (talk) 00:04, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- After digging around a bit, I find the article The Riddle (Nik Kershaw song) includes a link to this interview with Kershaw which pretty much substantiates the rumour, though the details are different. I guess it belongs there rather than here though. --80.176.142.11 (talk) 00:24, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
