Reviews[edit]

I have substituted the Progarchives link with two reviews from renowned sources. The main motivation for this was to balance the poor AMG review. Fair use rationale for Image:Hammill Silent.jpg[edit]

Image:Hammill Silent.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. "A Louse Is Not A Home" reminiscent of Usher?[edit]

Come to think of it, I've removed the remark about "A Louse Is Not A Home" being reminiscent of Poe's story Usher. Why would anyone state that? Because in the lyrics it says: "Sometimes it's very scary here" and in the title it says: "House"? That's way too little. I have the feeling that the sentence was added to show that Hammill has oh so very much literary influence in his work and that he is oh so much of an intellectual. If that is so (I think it is ;-) ), it should be in the article about Hammill, not here. To me "A Louse Is Not A Home" is about identity, loss of identity, struggling with the question "who am I" etc. Not particularly an aspect of Poe's story Usher I feel. For a comparison between Hammill's and Smith's opera Usher on the one hand and Poe's story on the other, please read the book "The House Is I" by Dagmar Klein (1998, ISBN 0 9524725 1 1). I disagree - from the gothic musical style and general lyrical content, it is a clear nod to Poe's Usher story, and the fact that Hammill later went on to do a full-blown "opera" about it is more circumstantial evidence. Sadly I don't have a reference for a quote of Hammill actually talking about it though.--feline1 (talk) 13:17, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
