I'm new to this but I feel I can significantly improve the quality of this page (or I would at least like to try)! I will maintain a neutral tone and use citations to verify all of my writing. I think this article on the truth campaign would benefit from the following additions/changes:
- Objectives - What does the truth campaign aim to achieve? What are the American Legacy Foundation's motivations for running the campaign?
- History - How did the campaign originally get started? Who designed the campaign? (Building off of the “Formation” section that already exists)
- Campaign components - How does the campaign deliver its message? An outline of truth’s TV ads, online presence, and grassroots “truth tour.”
- Evaluation strategy - How has the campaign been evaluated (by the American Legacy Foundation and by independent researchers)?
- Effectiveness - What is the state of the research evidence on the effectiveness of the truth campaign? What positive (building on the “Support” section) and negative (building on the “Criticism” section) results have been found to date?
- I’m not sure if it’s possible, but instead of “TheTruth.com,” the title of the page should be changed to something that reflects the fact that this is not just a website, it is a campaign that encompasses print, radio, web, and televised content. Some good alternatives would be “The truth campaign” or simply “truth (campaign)” (the “t” in truth is never capitalized on any campaign materials).
For each of these categories, I will comment on both the original “truth” campaign that ran from 2000-2014, as well as truth’s new “FinishIt” campaign that launched in August 2014 (truth redesigned its materials, shot a new series of ads, and came up with a new rallying cry for today’s youth: “We can be the generation that ends smoking”). This will be an important and timely distinction, as launch of the truth “FinishIt” campaign is likely driving many Americans to this Wikipedia article.
I welcome any feedback on this proposal as I would like my additions/changes to be meaningful. If I don't hear back from anyone I'll probably make these changes within the next month (mid-December 2014). --Amj492 (talk) 00:11, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
