Broader Concept?[edit]

While I'm sure that the concept of "Value of Time" is helpful if not central to the economic study of transportation, I've almost always encountered "value of time" as a much broader measure. Are you sure it's wise to confine the use of the term strictly to transportation issues? -- TheLastWordSword (talk) 20:27, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Value of time[edit]

In transport economics,[1] the value of time is the opportunity cost of the time that a traveler spends on their journey. In essence, this makes it the amount that a traveler would be willing to pay in order to save time, or the amount they would accept as compensation for lost time.
