Talk:Vidyodaya University
Regardig suggestion to merge this article with Sri jayewardenepura University: Our views are as follows: This article on Vidyodaya University was created after discussions with many Alumni as well as two ex Vice-chancellors of the Vidyodyaya University. The Vidyodyaya University and (to some extent the Vidyodayay Pirivena are discussed here). Our view is that the Sri Jayawardanapura University (probabaly mis-spelt as University of Sri Jayewardenepura) and this should be kept seperate, with just a brief paragraph here pointing to Sri Jeyawardanapura University, in this article on Vidyodya University.
The Jayewardenepurea University article already exists. people searching for Vidyodaya University will arrive at the present article.
We have included a link to the main article of the University of Sri Jayewardenepurea.
Our view is that this article should exist as it does now, while the Sri Jayawardanapura University article will grow and evolve with time, as that institutiuon grows. That is, the present article on Vidyodaya University is a historical article.Bodhi dhana (talk) 04:10, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Merge: As it is described in the article it self University of Sri Jayewardenepurea is the direct successes to the Vidyodaya University, to the extent that it was a mer name change as was that of Vidyodayay Pirivena to Vidyodaya University. However over the years institution has grown into what it currently is. This is unlike the case of the University of Ceylon that was split into several universities that had developed their own identity over the years. In this case its more of an evolution of identity from Vidyodayay Pirivena to Vidyodaya University to University of Sri Jayewardenepurea. Hence it would be confusing for readers the resistance of these two articles. Therefore it should be merged. If needed a article on Vidyodayay Pirivena could be made since there is a intuition bearing this name currently. Cossde (talk) 15:26, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
