This seems to me a crusading article with really entrenched POV problems. Essentially, it is putting the case for preserving the meadow, with little or no balance. Even in the first paragraph, there is the ludicrous statement that the meadow is 'one of the few remaining wild spaces within urban Oxford'. What about the acres of land surrounding the Thames, part of it a nature reserve? And the Kilns nature reserve in Headington?

Now that the meadow has been designated a town green, to the advantage of the owners of contiguous real estate, and to the detriment of the mentally ill in whose name the land was bought, this article is of no further interest even as a campaigning article.
