Speedy deletion nomination

[edit]

The Washington, Colesville and Ashton Turnpike is a valid historical road. If you delete it, you are deleting history! It is not a "company, corporation, organization, or group".

Keep -- This article is about a roadway and information within the article appears to assert its notability adequate enough for WP:PAPER. --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 06:10, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've declined the speedy deletion nomination, but I have to admit I am left with no real sense of why this road is notable. There are millions of roadways across North America alone. What sets this one apart? Resolute 06:41, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It followed the general alignment of and was the precursor to several State and Federal roadways, which I understand are considered notable. --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 06:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, it is notable enough to show up in List_of_turnpikes_in_Maryland —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mpeg2tom (talkcontribs) 06:57, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually it's because a company was chartered to build the roadway, and it collected tolls on it. It's a lot like a railroad in that regard. --NE2 09:52, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
