Proposal for Improvement[edit]

Hello Wikipedians,

As part of a final project for a graduate-level course in sustainable design and technology, I am proposing to improve this article by expanding on the history ("Background"), such as its impetus (EPACT92); providing real figures on its impact on water usage in the US; and by providing the specifications and numerical goals of this program. To do this, I will try to avoid (as much as possible) literature on the topic published by the USEPA and will only reference factual data that references the program. I will take advantage of my university's online database for research, and filter results to only show peer-reviewed journals and articles. This will be a challenging task, as many of the articles that populate on this topic are biased, but I have had luck finding useful data (see examples below). Aside from establishing its existence, it is important for Wikipedia viewers to understand how and why this program developed, as well as its impact.
