"He was the son of William IV of Toulouse and Adelaide (the daughter of Pons III of Toulouse), and the nephew of Raymond IV of Toulouse, Adelaide's brother."
I must say that Raymond IV and William IV where both sons of Pons III, and both brothers of Adelaide (if she was truly Pons' daughter). In the page about Counts of Toulouse it is suggested she was daughter of Almodis de la Marche (mother of William and Raymond) but not of their father.
I am a little confused, in those times one should separate from his wife only because they where cousins of 7° level, how could Adelaide marry one of her brothers?
Are you saying in a very roundabout way that "Adelaide" is a typo of sorts for "Raymond"? Could you have fixed this in less time than it took you to ask your question? Adam Bishop15:48, 14 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
According to the genealogist Peter Stewart, William-Jordan was the son of Sancha of Barcelona, a maternal half-sister of counts William IV and Raymond IV. There was no incest involved in his ancestry. Missi04:35, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Does anybody know if William is the bastard son of William IV of Toulouse and Adelaide (his own half-sister) as both this articel and the William IV article indicate or the legitimate son and heir of William Raymond, the prior count of Cerdagne, and Sancha of Barcelona, as the French Wikipedia indicates?
