Tazawako Station (田沢湖駅 -eki) is a train station located in Senboku, Akita Prefecture, Japan.

History

  • August 31, 1923: Station is opened as Obonai Station (生保内駅)
  • October 1, 1966: Station is renamed Tazawako Station
  • March 22, 1997: Service on the Akita Shinkansen is started

Honors

The station building, by Architect Shigeru Ban, with its glass facade, received the Good Design Prize. Tazawako Station was selected to be one of the Hundred Stations of Tohoku.
